For most of us, the likelihood of truly being attacked by a wild animal could be very low indeed, purely as a result of most of the creatures we share our world with have a deep, ingrained concern of us. Normally, their first response is to flee; if attacks do happen, then it is usually because of the animal feeling threatened in some way, akin to when a mom bear is trying to protect her cubs. Attacks can even occur out of sheer desperation, such as when the animal’s pure food is unavailable. There are some animals on the market, which might be sometimes referred to as man-eaters, but these are exceptions, even amongst their very own species, as their man eating tendencies in all probability happened as a result of attacking a human out of desperation, and then discovering that humans are relatively easy creatures to kill.
Perhaps it is the persistent belief that people are superior to animals that makes us assume the proper to use them. This is flawed logic. It makes more sense that a standing of superiority is achieved when we treat animals respectfully. True, animals think in a different way from us, they don’t get their thrills the identical manner we do. But they do not deserve to be abused as a result of they are completely different from us.
